This course is the first semester of a two-semester lab course for students majoring in Electrical Engineering and other sciences. It is designed to be a companion to complement the lecture course of General Physics. Although a one-credit course, students are required to attend a three-hour class each week. The goal of the course is for the students to develop and reinforce conceptual understanding of physical phenomena via hand-on experiments, with topics ranging from mechanics, rotation, vibration, fluid dynamics, to thermodynamics, etc.

學生修習完本課程,將認識下列專有名詞:vernier caliper, micrometer caliper, photoelectric timer, least square method, logarithmic graph paper, empirical equation, simple harmonic motion, Newton's laws for motion, static force analysis, torque, centripetal force, rotational inertia, torsion pendulum, gyroscope, wavelenth, tension, fluid, viscosity, coefficient of linear expansion, etc.
The aim of this course is that let students have sufficient knowledge of electromagnetics in EM waves, communications, photonics, and solid state electronics. Besides explaining common electromagnetic/physical effects, the students can utilize it to analyze and design relevant devices and systems. Its contents include static electromagnetic field theory, Maxwell's equations & plane EM waves, plane EM waves & lasers in distinct media, and selected topics in circuits & systems.
