本課程針對當代戲曲持續經營的成果與展望，包括：兩岸當代戲曲的發展新貌；現代戲曲理論論述之方向與成就；比較兩岸自戲改、文革後，大量產生的當代戲曲風貌之異同；以及影響較為廣大的編、導、演等戲曲藝術工作者之成就與作品概述。
（一）課程進度規畫：
I. 上學期教學主要方向，著重當代戲曲發展的歷史背景，與創作美學特色。:
1. 當代戲曲的時期劃分及其分類的界定。
2. 戲曲改革的發端：政治劇場的文化政策。
3. 戲曲改革的發展：編導、演員與劇本的轉型。
4. 戲改的精進：確立編劇中心。
5. 戲改的精進：確立導演機制。
6. 當代戲曲在台灣：三軍劇團、雅音小集、當代傳奇、與其他
7. 當代戲曲文學的審美特徵。
II. 下學期的內容，以作家與作品為例，進行具體研析，俾得確實觀察成果：
