本課程特別為研究生設計之地理資訊系統進階課程，目標著重於使修課之同學能應用地理資訊系統基本方法與技術，修課同學將對地理資訊系統之地理資訊系統資料庫設計、物件式模組與大地資料庫設計進一步了解。
本課程學生將選擇自己研究主題，利用ArcGIS或QGIS系統操作，將本課程三個重要主題：物件式模組、大地資料庫結構與大地資料庫設計應用於研究主題中。
重點研究主題包括：3DGIS空間資訊視覺化，時間地理資訊系統Time GIS，運輸地理資訊系統 Transportation GIS，網路地理資訊系統Web GIS，地理資訊系統模組化。
The objective of this course is to present the advanced students with an overview of methods, techniques, systems and applications in Geographic Information Systems. The course is designed to give the students a better understanding of Geodtabase design and introduce advanced ArcGIS or QGIS system. There are three essential topics in this course which are object modeling, the structure of geographic data, and geodatabase design.
