This course aims to provide students with an professional knowledge of cartographic design principles, including the models resulted  from physiology, psychology and color science, which will applied on map design process.
The course aims to train undergraduate students to analyze the characteristics of watersheds by using the historical discharge data and digital terrain models (DEMs). Watershed analysis is the basis for watershed management and water & soil resources conservation. The global heating and terrible hazards highlighted this issue. This course comprises two major components: the first one is the discharge analysis. In this part, the basic parameters depicting the discharge attributes will be introduced. Meanwhile, the students should select one river to practice those basic parameters. In the second part, the basic concepts of DEMs and the primary analysis, such as conversion, mergence, interpolation and so on will be introduced. Similarly, the students will be asked to study a case watershed in Taiwan. Finally, a seminar for inter-comparing those case watersheds done by students will be hold and discussed.
