本課程專為園生系4年級的同學開設,系上或校內老師指導同學進行一篇SCI期刊論文之閱讀,或是一個專題之研究進行報告。每位同學需針對一個與園藝或生命科學相關的主題,搜尋最近2年的SCI期刊論文,或是在老師的指導執行實驗,包括收集資料、分析資料、分析實驗結果等完整實驗。學期中或學期末需以科學的呈現方式,包括口頭發表SCI期刊論文,或是將其實驗資料及結果,與大家討論,相互切磋。此外,每位同學也必須在學期末將SCI期刊論文,或是實驗結果撰寫為論文格式,以書面方式繳交。

An oral presentations of a SCI paper or experimental results from each student should be given during the semester. In addition, a scientific written report of a SCI paper or experimental result also should be turned in in the end of semester.
本課程將簡介植物基本到複雜的發育現象,由植物細胞發育出發,討論到各器官的發育;從荷爾蒙,談到生長與分化之荷爾蒙控制;從光敏素,討論到光線對生長與分化之重要性等等。主要內容包括天然植物賀爾蒙及生長調節劑之性質、合成、及其對生理與植物生長發育的影響,並涉及最近在分子機制上的研究進展。
The course will introduce the basic to complex development phenomena of plants, from plant cells to various organs. We will focus on the natural plant hormones and plant growth regulators, including their biosynthetic pathways, applications, and influences on plant physiology, growth, and development.
普通化學為專業科目之基礎。本課程將對以物理的概念來闡述化學現象。這包括化學原理、氣體和溶液特性、化學反應和平衡、溶解、溶液配製、沉澱作用及酸鹼作用、基本化學鍵原理、熱力學對能量轉移的解釋、過渡金屬化學,以及動力學與反應速率的關係。另外如有足夠時間將介紹分析化學、無機化學及核化學,包括主族元素與。

Freshmen chemistry provides a general introduction of chemical principles, mostly with a physical interpretation for chemical phenomena. They will include basic concepts of quantum theories for atoms and molecules, thermodynamics to energy exchange and kinetics to reaction rates. Also, students in life science may not have chance to learn inorganic chemistry, so this part will be emphasized in general chemistry. They will learn to use the fundamental concepts of quantum mechanics to interpret the chemistry and the optical and magnetic properties of the main groups and transiton metals. This chemistry and physics are very important in life science. Finally, the analytical chemistry and physical chemistry will be taught.
